Our history
The North-West Maritime Agency group of companies started its operations in 2000 on the premises of the Severnaya Verf Shipyard. The company's main activities during that period were:
- Ship agency services
- Bunkering of ships
- Sea transportation of petroleum products
- Supply of imported equipment for domestic shipyards
Agency services and bunkering of ships:
Providing the fleet of the Volgotanker shipping company (the largest carrier of petroleum products in the Russian Federation) and bunkering of ships of all types using our own resources in the ports of St. Petersburg and Ust-Luga.
Sea transportation of petroleum products using our own tanker, the Aral
In the early 2000s, SZMA actively developed domestic transportation, and its own tanker, the Aral, became an important milestone in the company's history. The vessel operated on Russia's waterways — the Volga, the Neva, and the Volga-Baltic Canal — delivering petroleum products and chemicals between the country's industrial centers. Transportation volumes reached up to 3,000 tons per voyage, which ensured supply stability and logistics flexibility. That period became the foundation for the further expansion of SZMA’s logistics capabilities.
Supply of imported equipment for domestic shipyards
At the beginning of the 21st century, SZMA actively collaborated with the leading Russian shipyards specializing in the comprehensive supply of imported equipment. We helped implement the best global practices in domestic production. Our contribution became part of the history of the Russian civilian and military fleet modernization.
Particular attention was paid to the safety of the crew: we imported Fassmer and Viking LSE lifeboats, Survitec Group and RFD Beaufort inflatable life rafts, and emergency position-indicating radio beacons (EPIRB). This equipment guaranteed a high degree of protection in emergency situations. Our supplies helped the shipbuilders ensure that their vessels met the stringent safety requirements.
We equipped ships with modern navigation and communication systems supplying Furuno and JRC (Japan Radio Company) radars, Sperry Marine gyrocompasses and Kelvin Hughes antennas. This equipment ensured precise navigation and reliable communication in any conditions. Thanks to our solutions, the Russian fleet gained access to advanced control and navigation technologies.
